Do I need a doctor’s referral before starting physiotherapy?

Physiotherapists are considered primary access in Ontario. This means that a referral is not always necessary but you may wish to check with your insurance benefit provider to see is they require a referral to reimburse you. It is always a good idea to inform your doctor about any health problems so that they can also support your recovery.

Do you treat backs?

Yes we do. We use hands on treatment as well as pain relieving technology such as ultrasound, laser, TENS or acupuncture – you and your physiotherapist can discuss which options will work best for your problem. We also have mechanical traction available and will teach you how to strengthen your back to avoid repeated injuries. As physiotherapists have been specially trained to work on every area of the body. See the Therapies menu for a list of commonly treated conditions.

I was recently in a car accident. What do I have to do to start physiotherapy treatment?

You can start physiotherapy immediately usually. It is often advisable to see your family physician to see if you require investigative medical tests or prescription anti-inflammatory, pain and/or muscle relaxant medication. We would be happy to discuss how to get started if you give us a call at 905-951-7051.

I have a sports related injury. Do you treat these?

Yes. We treat athletes of all ages. We can get you back to your sports activities as soon as possible. We use hands on treatment along with taping, laser and ultrasound, and many other modalities to reduce your healing time. If needed, we also have a selection of sports braces, custom knee braces and orthotics to help you return early and to prevent further injury.

Not only do we help you recover quickly, we ensure that your muscles are at the proper length and strength to avoid the same injury in the future. Sports specific retraining will improve your sports performance no matter what your activity.

I recently had orthopaedic surgery. Can I come to your clinic for physiotherapy?

Yes. We treat a variety of post-operative conditions, including arthroscopic surgeries, carliage/disc removals, fusions, tendon repairs, joint replacements and many others. We have specialized knowledge and experience in post-operative care and communicate closely with your surgeon if special instructions are needed. Often the first step is to manage any discomfort and/or swelling while helping you improve your mobility and strength. Call us and we will get you in for an assessment as quickly as possible. We do not have a waiting list but early booking is recommended to get your choice of appointment times.
